SIMBA

I SHOULD be doing artwork that I owe people... But I REALLY wanted to finish this XD

I drew Simba for 3 reasons, 1.) I LOVE the Lion King, 2.) I get really bored in my World Literature class, and 3.) For the past few years, I've noticed some differences between cub Simba and adult Simba... Not the obvious "he got bigger and grew a mane," but smaller details that nobody else but me probably noticed

1.) Colors are slightly different; Simba gets darker as he grows up
2.) He has black rims on his ears as a cub, but not an adult
3.) The tuft of fur on the end of Simba's tail is brown as a cub, red as an adult.

Oh man... I thought there were more than that... Um... Nope, that's it XD This is embarrassing...

No references were used for these Well... Okay, before my class started, I was intensely staring at this picture of Simba [link] to make sure I knew how his mane looked XD and then I drew him during class like, 30-ish minutes later... But otherwise I didn't use any references. The colors, on the other hand, were taken directly from some screenshots on google... Just because the colors are really difficult for me to get exactly right

I dedicated this picture to two of my friends when I posted it on Facebook, because if it weren't for them, I would've sat through this movie in the theater, all by myself... Seriously. I wanted to see it so badly I would've sat all alone but they were awesome enough to come with me to see it And I'm truly grateful to them for putting up with my excitement and spazzy-ness.

Please note: I don't draw baby/child-like animals too often... Even when I was a kid myself, I didn't draw young things much at all; I've always liked full-grown animals more XD so I KNOW cub Simba is a little bit off... His head is too square I think. It should be rounder... Oh well, I'm not fixing it now I'll just remember that if I ever decide to draw Simba as a cub again...

GAH. I've always loved Simba, particularly when he's an adult. When I was like, 3 and I saw this movie for the first time, he was immediately my favorite character. I think it was because of the colors. They're so warm, and bright, and pretttyyyyyy but without being overly saturated to the point where it hurts your eyes. I don't know, I just LOVE his design. I think the Disney animators did a great job with him
